About our Weekend Wheel Workshops

Join the fun in our Wheel Workshops on Friday and Saturday nights! You will be guided through the steps of working with clay on the potter’s wheel. Wheel throwing can be challenging when first starting out, this workshop will cover the fundamentals in three hours and is structured for first time students. Each student can keep their favorite piece to be glazed and fired if they choose.

All your workshop questions, answered!

  • Yes! Private three-hour wheel workshops are available some Sundays each month. $55 per attendee - minimum price of 6 attendees ($330) and maximum 16 spots available.

If you are interested in a hand-building or sculpture workshop, or another day, please email us info@penguinfoot.com‍ ‍to discuss. In general, we cannot offer private events during scheduled class times.

  • Throwing on the potter’s wheel is a learned skill that takes a lot of time, so please don’t expect to make something amazing on your first try! You’ll create a wonderful handmade vessel.

At the end of the workshop, you'll have the option to keep one of your creations and select a glaze to have it finished in.

  • Your work is ready for pickup two weeks after your workshop. We try and send everyone a courtesy reminder email to come in and pick up your piece — but these emails occasionally end up in spam folders!

All work that is over seven weeks old is discarded or donated to make space for more student work. There are no exceptions to this rule; we hope you'll understand that space is limited and we always hate throwing out work!

  • We hate it when that happens. The fact of the matter is that there are many, many variables during the drying and firing process. When work is fired in a kiln at 2,200 degrees, pieces can crack, stick to the kiln shelves, or even explode during the process.

We make every effort we humanly can to ensure that your pottery survives — however, these variables make it impossible to guarantee that every single piece will make it through in ideal condition. As a result, we do stipulate that the cost of our workshops is for the three-hour experience on the potter’s wheel, learning from our team — and not contingent on keeping a final piece of pottery. We cannot offer refunds for damaged, lost, or discarded pottery.

  • No.
