Wheel Throwing Level 1 (4/29-5/25)
For those with little to no experience or anyone looking to nail down the basics, this is the introductory class to throwing clay on a potter’s wheel. We guide you through the wheel fundamentals needed to create several pieces from start to finish, and learn the basics beyond the wheel with trimming and glazing.
Our beginners course to the potter's wheel meets once a week for four weeks during each session.
Week 1: Introduction to wheel throwing basics: centering, opening, pulling. Focus on cylinder shapes.
Week 2: Refining and practicing fundamentals. Introduction to basic shaping techniques.
Week 3: Trimming techniques, refining forms.
Week 4: Glazing overview, finalizing pieces for first firing.
Your class registration includes up to 5 pounds of clay fired, all supplies/glazes/firings, and open studio hours to work outside of class time. All you need to do is show up ready to learn!
